OPEN HOUSE: Attending an Open House is the best way to get an overview of the school. 7th and 8th grade students and their families have an opportunity to meet some of our students and faculty, tour our campus, and visit the many displays on academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities and school life. Contact the Admissions Office if you would like a tour of the school. The Spring Open House will be held on February 28th, 2008 5:30-7:30 P.M.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Students may apply to Loughlin as new students for the 9th grade and as transfer students into the 10th and 11th grades. Transfer students must apply before October 31st for the 1st / fall semester and before February 15th for the 2nd / spring semester.

Applicants for the 9th grade are expected to take the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) Exam in November of their 8th grade. TACHS applications may be obtained by calling 1-718-857-2700, ext 2246. For more information regarding TACHS, please click here.

One of Loughlin's student leaders explains the clubs and activities Freshman can get involved in while at BLMHS.

While all choices are considered, preference is given to 1st and 2nd choice applicants.  Applicants for the 10th and 11th grades, and 9th grade applicants who have not taken the  TACHS test, must submit:

  1. transcripts and report cards
  2. immunization record
  3. sit for an interview with the with the Assistant Principal for Academics and/or the Director of Admissions
  4. pay the non-refundable registration fee of $470 (cash or money order only) if application is approved.

In addition, 9th grade applicants who have not taken the TACHS test must take a placement test

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES / TUITION ASSISTANCE: Academic Scholarships (full and partial awards) are awarded only to Grade 9 incoming students.

Need-Based Financial Aid worth over $250,000 (maximum grant of $1,400 per student) is available. The student must be registered in the school in order to be eligible for such assistance.

The Student Sponsor Partnership is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian program, which offers four-year financial assistance to students. This aid is provided by business community sponsors for qualifying 8th and 9th public school students who are both educationally and economically disadvantaged. Students are selected by the SSP and must meet Loughlin's standards of academic achievement and good conduct.

RECOGNITION: The U.S. Department of Education recognizes Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School as a Blue Ribbon Exemplary High School. The school is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
