Here's what's happening at Loughlin

6/3/08
Police Commissioner for a Day
Congratulations to Junior Angeline Johnson who was a winner in this year's Police Commissioner for a Day essay contest. This is the 26th consecutive year in which a Loughlin student has been a winner in this prestigious contest. Angeline was honored at an Awards Ceremony at 1 Police Plaza and then spent the rest of the day serving as the Commanding Officer of our local 88th precinct.

Loughlin's Outstanding Athlete
Nickolei Mahlung was voted Outstanding Athlete of the CHSSA Intersectional 81st Annual City Championships this weekend. Nicolei won the Gold Medal in both the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes at the Championships. He was also named Outstanding Athlete of the Brooklyn Diocesan Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Nicolei's performance earns him a place as one of the greatest sprinters in Loughlin's hallowed racing history.

Good News!
The December 2007  edition of the Jamesonian won FIRST PRIZE for the best cover in the Journalism Contest sponsored by The Tablet -- the newspaper of the Brooklyn diocese. Naa-Shorme Aidoo won Honorable Mention for her article "Feeling a Little Under the Weather."  The award ceremony took place at St. Francis College on May 15.

Loughlin Sounds Good!
The Loughlin Chorus and 11 Band members went to the New York State School Music Association Festival this year to perform in front of the NYSSMA judges.
On Friday, May 9 the Chorus blew the judges away and received a GOLD RATING. Only two of the ten choruses that sang got this top rating.
The Band members played on Saturday, May 10th. Eight of them came away with the top rating of OUTSTANDING and the other three were rated just below that with a score of EXCELLENT.
Congratulations to our Chorus and Band. Keep up the good work. And a big thank you to Mr. Maffei and Mr. Bero. We are very proud of you all.
