Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL?  There are lots of things to learn before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.

Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.

Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.

Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.

See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

Dear Alumni, Parents, Prospective Students and Friends of Bishop Loughlin:

The Easter season will soon come to an end.  As we celebrate Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday.   This spring has been very busy.  Here is a sampling of what Loughlin students have been involved with:

  • Two debate teams qualified and attended the New York State Championship.
  • Several students participating in programs sponsored by All Stars; one performed in "Season in the Congo".
  • A trip to Broadway to see Billy Elliott sponsored by a board member.
  • A trip to visit the corporate offices of AVON including lunch with the CEO.
  • 22 students performing at NYSSMA and receiving recognition as outstanding or excellent.
  • A web conference with students from St. Francis of Assisi school in Liverpool, England sharing ideas on global warming.
  • The final Kairos retreat
  • LaSalle week activities in honor of our founder, St. John Baptist De LaSalle.
  • More service projects that I can list.

Wow, if the spirit is about new life, then Loughlin has been brimming over.  The school community has been engaged with creative learning opportunities both inside an outside the building.

The senior class excitedly looks forward to graduation and the full range of social and spiritual activities surrounding it.  College acceptances have been strong.  I am proud to say.  Graduating seniors will be attending Columbia, Brown and West Point, St. John's, St. Francis, Drexel, Howard, and a host of others.

We've been blessed.

Live Jesus in our hearts!

Sincerely,

Brother Dennis Cronin, FSC
President
