Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL?  There are lots of things to learn before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.

Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.

Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.

Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.

See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

Graduation '09
Posted 06/08/2009 01:00AM

On Saturday, June 6, 2009 the Bishop Loughlin Junior Band started to play Pomp and Circumstance at exactly 10:00 A.M. and the graduation ceremony began for the Class of 2009.

The Faculty, Board of Governors, parents, friends and the graduates were welcomed by salutatorian Gladyne Confident who is the recipient of a New York State Academic Excellence scholarship and will be attending St. Josephs College having received three scholarships from the college including the Presidential Scholarship.

Following her address the Bishop’s Awards for Academic Excellence and the Academic Honors were presented to the best and the brightest of the Class of 2009. Scholarships were announced as well as the Graduation Awards. This year students received scholarships totaling almost ten million dollars.

Jeanette Rodriguez, winner of the Bishop’s Award for General Excellence made the Valedictory Address. Jeanette was accepted at six colleges and has chosen to accept a scholarship from Columbia University. She is leaning towards pre-med studies.

Keeping pace with the seniors of 2008, twenty-seven of this year’s graduates received Advanced Designation Regents Diplomas. Jeanette Rodriquez’s was awarded with Honors which means that she had scores of over 90 percent on all eight of the regents required for the Advanced Designation.

We are very proud of all 202 graduates of the Class of 2009 and wish them God’s speed as they begin the next phase of their lives
