Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL? There are lots of things to learn
before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.
Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.
Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.
Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.
See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

Adrienne Alexander is writing a new chapter in Loughlin's storied history of track and field. She entered Loughlin with high expectations and is living up to them, winning medal after medal for shot put. By her senior year, she could be among the most decorated Loughlin track and field athletes of all time.
Adrienne has a family history of track excellence at Loughlin. "Everyone in my family does track," she said. She learned how to throw from her older sister, Ashlei. Her cousin Saleena Abdur-Rashed '07 was a champion sprinter at Loughlin and Adrienne says hearing Saleena's stories inspires her to keep pushing herself.
Some of the more impressive of the medals are: Silver in the Varsity Division and Gold in the Freshmen Division with a throw that was 7 ½ feet over the meet record at the Bishop Loughlin Games – the oldest and largest indoor, high school track meet in the country; Silver at the Hispanic Games; Gold Medal and a scholarship in the 35th Colgate Women’s Games, Bronze at the Penn Relays in the High School Championship of America Shot Put Final, Gold Medal at the Hartford Invitational, and she was crowned CHSAA Intersectional Champion in both the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
For all of her accomplishments, Adrienne was chosen by the Daily News to be a First Team member of the All City CHSAA-Independent Schools Track and Field Team for 2009. Adrienne is the number 1 female, freshman thrower in the country.
But, Adrienne wasn’t the only member of the team who was working hard and winning medals. Other notable winners were:
Jaylen Henderson, sophomore, is the indoor CHSAA Sophomore Champion in the 55 meter hurdles and the outdoor CHSAA Sophomore Champion in the 110 Hurdles. Jaylen won a Silver Medal at the Brooklyn Diocesan Indoor Track & Field Championship in the Varsity Hurdles and Gold in both the Sophomore 110 Meter High Hurdles and the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles at the Outdoor Brooklyn Diocesan Track & Field Championships.
Alicia Ross, junior, was crowned the Brooklyn Diocesan Champion as she won the 55 Meter Hurdles Gold Medal at the Indoor CHSAA Brooklyn/ Queens Championship.
Melissa Tropnas won 2nd place in the Brooklyn Borough Cross Country Championships
