Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL?  There are lots of things to learn before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.

Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.

Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.

Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.

See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

Loughlin Wins at the Brooklyn Philharmonic Festival
Posted 03/20/2010 01:00PM

Congratulations to all the students who performed at the annual Brooklyn Philharmonic Student Ensemble Festival. The Festival was hosted by Bishop Loughlin and is sponsored by Loughlin alum, Brian Connelly ’73.

Loughlin put on a good show at the Festival with 3 of 4 groups placing in the competition.

In the Intermediate Finals the Loughlin’s saxophones -- Marlexis Cintron, Whitney Morency, and Shanice Morris --  placed 2nd and the clarinets -- Laura Evans, Staphanie Foster, Madjeen Garcon, and Ashley John --  placed 3rd.

In the Advanced Finals Loughlin’s violins -- Faith Brancale, Charles Dublin, and Meghan Deberry – placed 3rd.

Mr. Maffei was very happy that his performers not only place in the competition, but also brought home $1000 in prize money for the Music Department.
