Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL?  There are lots of things to learn before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.

Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.

Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.

Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.

See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

Angelique Caballero is posing next to a statue of St. John Baptist de La Salle while her mom looks on and her dad snaps the picture. She is holding a Loughlin Leo-the-Lion folder that is packed with information to help her transition to Loughlin. She will also have three days of orientation during which she will become very familiar with the school and be ready to go on the first day of class.

When Angelique arrives in the fall, she will be assigned to a House and family. Bishop Loughlin is the only parochial school to have the House System of student governance. It helps students adjust to their new school and find friends quickly. When you come to Loughlin, you come to a family.

Bishop Loughlin has already registered eighth graders from 67 different schools -- 31 public schools, 28 Catholic schools and 8 Christian schools.

If you are interested in registering your son or daughter, please click on admissions or call 718-857-2700 ext. 2246 or ext. 2208.
