Are you ready for HIGH SCHOOL?  There are lots of things to learn before classes start, but don't worry, after a three-day orientation, you'll be ready to go.

Day One: you'll find out about the Loughlin tradition, the school rules, and figure out how to get 7 classes in a 7-day schedule that rotates in a 5-day week. You also get a locker and a special Loughlin lock. Have fun learning how it works. You'll also find out what House you're in.

Day Two: Time for a little fun and compettion. Your house will compete in the Loughlin Spirit Day games. There is a three-legged race, relay races, jump rope, and the famous tug of war. That should build up a good appetite for the picnic lunch of burgers and dogs.

Day Three: It's your first day schedule on a fast track. You'll spend 15 minutes in each class and then move on to the next one. You'll scramble to find your classrooms. You'll also meet your wonderful teachers and find out what the class is about. You'll also hear each teacher's classroom rules.

See you on September 8, 9, and 10.

SPOTLIGHT: H2O Challenge
Posted 06/01/2010 10:23AM

Water, it’s something we take for granted. Turn on the faucet and there it is. Go to any deli and it’s in bottles from sources all over the world. Often we won’t even drink water unless it’s flavored – soda, tea, sport drinks, coffee. For 1 billion people, however, there is no easy access to clean water. Their sources are polluted lakes and streams infected by animal waste, human waste, and parasites. Every day 5000 children die from water related diseases.

Campus Ministry and the House System of Student Governance brought The H2O Project to Loughlin. 35 Loughlinites took the Challenge to drank only water for 2 weeks.. Then they contributed the money they would have spent at the soda machine and coffee shop and earmarked it for Haiti. Their $1374 contribution went to Living Waters International, a Christian charity that trains and equips local people to drill their own wells.

That the H2O Project took place during Lent is no coincidence. Many Christians will typically give something up or try to do more for others during Lent.
