Loughlin purchases subscriptions to the following websites. You will need a User ID and Password for each site. Such information is available from the library media specialist.  

CQ Researcher 

The Congressional Quarterly publishes articles on important issues that have arisen over the past decade. 

EBSCO (Biography, EBook, History, Literary, Novelist & Science Reference Centers)

Six excellent databases that will not only enrich nearly all literary, historical and scientific research projects, but also present reading in a whole new fashion.   

Facts on File (Classroom Video on Demand & Bloom's Literary Reference Center)

User friendly databases that contain thousands of video clips for All subject areas and literary criticism by famous literary critic, Harold Bloom.  Highly recommended especially for research papers!!!

Grolier's Encyclopedia Online

An online encyclopedia.  Check out The Encyclopedia Americana link! 

ProQuest (SIRS)

One of the most reliable databases that contains thousands of periodicals (magazines and select newspaper sections) to aid with all areas of research.

TeenBiz 3000
A reading, writing and grammar program that utilizes Associated Press articles in order to gauge one's reading skills.  Daily puzzles and even jokes are posted.  

World Book Encyclopedia Online
There are four links here, but World Book Advanced, Student and Hallazgos are suggested.  Among the many features are an atlas, World Newspapers, research articles and even a link to improve your Spanish. 

Public Libraries

A Public Library Card will provide you access to free: books, discussions, film screenings, DVD rentals, seminars, after school programs, High Speed Internet Access, searches of hundreds of electronic databases and more. To apply for a Public Library Card, visit your borough’s library website.

Channel One
The website to the Channel One TV news station. Each day’s news stories are posted here, as well as, lots of interesting contests and trivia.

An extensive collection of music lyrics, quotations, all kinds of poems and even a “Poem of the Day.”

Teen Ink
An online magazine written by teens since 1989.  The BLMHS Library carries the print version. Lots and lots of writing contests can be found here.

Thinkquest
A student competition about building educational website. Check out the library of projects. You might find something that helps you understand math or history or chemistry or...

A collection of study aids including a multiplayer game.

World Book Encyclopedia: Citation Builder
Click on Citation Builder under Research Tools and learn how to build a bibliography using The APA, MLA and Harvard Research Styles.  World Book User ID and Password required.
