Admissions Process for Students Entering the Ninth Grade in 2010


These are the steps eighth grade students need to take to enter Loughlin as beginning ninth grade students for the 2009-2010 school year.  There is a different process for transfer students .

Make sure you visit Loughlin as part of your application process.

1.  Register for the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools

Students who take the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) are given priority for acceptance.
If you don’t take the TACHS exam, you will need to arrange an interview with the Assistant Principal for Academics and/or the Director of Admissions and take a placement test in order to be considered for acceptance – see step 4 below.  Students who do not take the TACHS exam will be required to attend the Head Start program.
Registration for the TACHS exam begins Wednesday, September 3, 2008.
The deadlines for registration are:
Wednesday, 10/7/09 for receipt of paper registration form and fee.
Thursday 10/22/09 online at www.tachsinfo.com or by telephone: 866-618-2247
There is a $49 registration fee. (Payable by credit card with internet or phone registration, certified check or money order with a mailed registration.)
Bishop Loughlin TACHS Code is: 003.
Remind your guidance counselor, principal or 8th grade teacher to complete the student applicant record located at www.tachsinfo.com and mail the completed form to:

2.  Take the TACHS exam on Saturday, 11/14/09

 

3.   Send in your Confirmation Letter and Pre-Registration Fee

Results from the TACHS exam are sent out in January. Students who are accepted to Bishop Loughlin based on their TACHS exam scores will be sent an acceptance package in mid-January. Send in your Acceptance Confirmation Letter and Pre-Registration Fee by 2/12/10 and save $100.
 

 4. Apply and Register

March 3, 2010:
Priority Registration Day for students with an ACCEPTANCE LETTER.

Bring your Immunization records and report cards. There is a registration fee of $480 for those who didn’t pre-register. (You will save $100 if you pre-register and send in your registration fee before 2/13/2009.)

March 10, 2010:
Registration Day for all students.

Students with acceptance letters :
Bring your Immunization records and report cards. There is a registration fee of $480 for those who didn’t pre-register. (You will save $100 if you pre-register before 2/12/2010.)
Students who didn’t take the TACHS exam:
Appointments are required; please call the Admissions Office at 718-857-2700 ext. 2246 or 2224. You will be considered for acceptance based on an interview with the Assistant Principal for Academics and/or the Director of Admissions. If accepted you will be able to register on the same day. You will be required to take a placement test.
Bring your Immunization records, report cards, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor. There is a registration fee of $480.

You will need to attend the Head Start program during the summer.

 If you can NOT attend either of the above registration dates:

Please call the Admissions Office at 718-857-2700 ext. 2246 or 2208 and  make an appointment to apply and/or register. We schedule appointments on Wednesdays throughout May and June.
Students with acceptance letters based on their TACHS score:
