        MLK Assembly 2006

The assembly began with an outstanding presentation from Sergio Arguete. Mr. Arguete is the founder of S.T.R.O.N.G Youth Incorporated and a former gang member. Passionately he described the course of events which led him to desire a change for a better world. Mr. Arguete preached a message of non-violence like that of the great Martin Luther King Jr. He described ways in which students unknowingly support the cycle of gang violence. Girls unknowingly support it by dating gang members and young men by befriending them.

Mr. Arguete's presentation closed with an emphasis on education as a roadmap for peace. He left the stage to a standing ovation.
