On Friday,
February 16, the Loughlin Community celebrated
its annual Martin Luther King Jr. / Black
History Month Assembly. Joining us this year to
honor Dr. King and his legacy were Mr. Keith
Outlaw and Ms. Akua Brabham.
Mr. Outlaw,
Assistant Director of Admissions at St. Joseph’s
College and a professional singer, shared the
story of Dr. King’s courage and resolve in
leading the struggle for freedom. He challenged
us to continue Dr. King’s legacy today by
working hard in school to acquire the knowledge
and skills necessary to assume our rightful
leadership roles in society and by treating each
other with respect and compassion. He then led
us in singing “Lift Every Voice.”
Ms. Akua
Brabham, Director of Dance at Loughlin for
twenty years and her professional dance troupe,
African Dimensions, dazzled us with the rhythms,
beauty and energy of African dance. |
