We really had something to
celebrate at the Thanksgiving Assembly on
November 15. The Canned Food Drive set a record
with more than 1800 cans of food donated by the
students and faculty of Loughlin. Campus
Ministry organized the drive and members packed
the cans in boxes and delivered them to Sister
Eileen at the All Saints Church Food Pantry.
Sister Eileen gave the assembly a big thanks
saying that this donation will keep the Pantry's
shelves stocked throughout December. Ms.
Sontag's Home Room 305 was given a big hand for
collecting the most food.
Leslie Short of Food Bank of New
York told us and showed us the need in our
community and city and how Food Bank helps by
supplying food to over 2000 Soup Kitchens and
Food Pantries. She also showed us how many of
the shelves in Food Bank's 50,000 square foot
warehouse are empty due to lack of funding.
Jeniver Zorilla made a special
appeal to keep the food coming in for the
Dominican Republic, Haiti, and other islands
that were hit hard by tropical storm Noel.
Jennifer has family in the Dominican Republic. |
